SUMMERISLE 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT
After weeks of deep contemplation, heartfelt discussion, and wanting to keep in line with current Pennsylvania Health Department and CDC recommendations, it has been decided that Summerisle 2020 is being postponed – as an in-person event. Instead, the burn will be held online as VIRTUALISLE, a free online collaboration powered by our community over the same weekend as our normally scheduled burn: June 19-21, 2020.
We seek to proceed as responsibly as possible for the health and wellbeing of all our community members. This was not a decision we arrived at lightly. Many volunteers have worked tirelessly behind the scenes and put in great effort to get us this far, and we are eminently grateful for every contribution and ounce of positive energy that has so far been poured into this burn.
In light of the restrictions that we’re currently facing, we seek to do what burners do best: gather up our resources in the face of hardship and make ALL THE THINGS happen.
As a result, we will not be canceling our June burn outright! If restrictions are lifted and a safe path forward presents itself, we will move Summerisle ahead 3 months. We will become AUTUMNISLE, a collaborative community event shaped by YOU, held at Fort Royale Farm on September 17-21, 2020. Same lovely burn, same tireless community, simply moved to be held under a new moon and stars.
In the meantime, we are offering a number of options for those who have already purchased Summerisle 2020 tickets:
– Your ticket(s) can ride through and be valid for either Autumnisle in September 2020 or for the next Summerisle in June 2021.
– If the burn requires further postponement after September, all tickets can be used for Summerisle 2021. Please do not ask us to hold them til Summerisle 2023-24-25…cuz nope.
– If you would prefer a refund, we’ll be happy to take care of that for you too!

Your planning team continues to work behind the scenes to make the most of changing circumstances in a world that, more than ever, calls out for community and civic-minded action. To that effect, we invite our burners – our movers, our shakers, our doers – to help create a virtual world for us all to enter over the weekend of June 19-21, 2020. If you or your camp would like to contribute/host an activity at VIRTUALISLE, begin brainstorming now! We’ll soon have an online form ready to submit your virtual events through that can link to a special VirtualIsle Google Calendar so we all know what’s happening when. Events are only limited by your imagination: a DJ set, a craft hour, a competition, a pageant, a fashion show, a game, a topical discussion, a dance class, a social hour, a live performance, or whatever your mind can fathom and your spoons can handle for Virtualisle.
